Things to do in and around Santa Pola |
||
| There should be a map of Santa Pola left in the apartment for your reference but we suggest that you call into the Tourist Info Office situated just beyond the Marina and Port and get a map of the town or 'plano de la ciudad'. The staff speak excellent English and the maps are free. | ||
| Markets | On Saturdays and Mondays, there is a lively market held in the mercadillo near to the health centre and another near to the town centre. |

| Shopping |
|
In addition to being a popular holiday resort, Santa Pola
is also a thriving town and the shops support the residents throughout
the year.
Being traditionally Spanish, the shops close for a couple of hours during the afternoon, but the mornings and early evenings are busy times for both shops and shoppers. If you are a compulsive shopper, don't forget that Alicante is only 10 miles away and there is a regular bus service to the Alicante shopping centre. |
|
The beaches next to the apartment are clean and safe,
with shallow waters. Lifeguards are in attendance during the busy season.
Topless sunbathing is acceptable and there are beach foot showers.
During the siesta period you can either take advantage of an afternoon nap or enjoy the warm Mediterranean sun on the nearby beaches...... ........or indulge in an ice cream in one of the many heladerias. |

| Sunbathing | There are miles of excellent beaches
stretching in both directions from the apartment block, and if you wish
to have some peace and quiet, the old road from Santa Pola to El Altet, towards
Alicante, offers many secluded beaches. There is also a naturist beach
towards Guardamar del Segura about 10 miles to the South.

| Golf |
There are golf courses towards Benidorm in the North and Torrevieja in the South, both very easily reachable.

| Walking |
Santa Pola is built on the flat so people with walking difficulties
shouldn't have many problems exploring the town history on foot.
Take in the ancient fort from the times when Moors from across the Mediterranean occupied this land, but whether you just enjoy a stroll around the harbour and watch the fishing fleet unload the day's catch or wish to get some altitude, Spain is fast becoming a destination for serious walkers. If you wish to make this a two-centre break to include some walking, we recommend you visit the Els Frares web site, |

| ...............and
in the evenings.
Starting with 'Sundowners' at Los 7 Delfines opposite the apartment, you can make your way into the town centre - a 10 minute walk - and enjoy the evening paseo, then dinner at one of the many restaurants serving locally produced fare - including delicious seafood from the day's catch. This followed by dancing in the clubs around the town centre. A romantic walk home along the beach and waterfront around the harbour or for those exhibitionists among you - call in at the karaoke bar on the way home! |
